Brides and grooms have SO many vendors to choose from during their wedding planning journey that it often becomes overwhelming, time-consuming, confusing, tedious, and repetitive. So, in order to help San Diego couples find out more about their potential wedding vendors and learn which ones may be the right match for them, I decided to do a monthly blog piece called "Vendor Viewpoints."  Without further ado, here is April's Vendor Viewpoint...enjoy!

How did you decide on your profession and join the wedding world?

At 13, I was the kid who would take my boom box to school and all my friends would gather around me, and I would hit play on the "cassette deck." All my friends would say, "Ohhhh Jerry has all the latest songs." I never stopped playing music for people. I eventually did my first wedding at 20 years old, and I fell in love with the feel that those types of events cultivate with the help of the right songs.

What do you love most about your job?

The greatest joy is when I play music that evokes emotions from people---whether it's trying to get to the dance floor as fast as they can so they can dance to their favorite song or the sounds taking them back to a very memorable point in their lives. When the event is finished, I have achieved my goal of making sure that EVERYONE was inspired by music.

What part of the wedding industry motivates you?

I feel motivated by every part of the wedding industry because I know that music can enhance every aspect.

What is your favorite wedding venue in San Diego County?  Why?
I have so many favorite locations that it's hard to pick just one. San Diego has the most beautiful waterfront wedding locations that make me feel good just to be there. There are places that have exquisite customer service and are accommodating for load-in and break-down of equipment for the celebration.  We have inland venues that are just beautiful! I cannot narrow it down to under 40 venues that I love!

What is the wedding trend you’d like to see again and again? The incorporation of current music that is elegant.
What is the wedding trend that should be buried and never return?Wedding trends always come back. Also, I am open to whatever the client feels is "their style."

What flavor of wedding cake makes you melt?

Cheesecake!

What is your favorite moment on wedding day? Why?

Right when I'm introducing the couple into the reception. The feelings and emotions in the room are so powerful and filled with love.

If you could be hired for any famous person’s wedding (dead or alive), who would it be?

In my mind, all of my clients are famous!

What advice would you give to brides and grooms?

Never underestimate the power of music for your reception.

Based on your experience, what advice would you give to wedding professionals?
Love what you do and it will show!
