Name: Nancy Stevens Business: Nancy Stevens Wedding Flowers Specialty: Florist Website: www.NancyStevens.com
How did you decide on your profession and join the wedding world? I’m the daughter of a florist! I was born into this job. What do you love most about your job? The ability to express my creativity on a daily basis. Sometimes it’s hands on and other times it just creating in my mind. It’s a huge source of joy for me. What part of the wedding industry motivates you? I love the industry. I love that things are changing constantly. This industry is fresh and fun because that’s what our brides and grooms are. I’ve met so many wedding professionals that I love because they are so caring and love what they do. You really have to be a people lover to be in this industry or you won’t last long! I have some really solid, fun and rewarding, relationships with other wedding industry pro’s and love that part of my life. What is your favorite wedding venue in San Diego County? Why? I have worked at most of the major wedding venues in and around San Diego and I could never choose my one favorite. There are always different fabulous things at each venue that the other does not have. Also, for me, when we add flowers, each and every week, that wedding becomes my very favorite, no matter where we are. Every single week my venue changes as well as colors and styles. It’s the most amazing and fun thing to see all the ways each venue becomes amazing and reflects the personality of the Bride and Groom that has chosen it. What is the wedding trend you’d like to see again and again? What is the wedding trend that should be buried and never return? I love the trend of “there are no rules.” Each Bride gets to make her own rules and create exactly what she wants! The wedding trend that should be buried – I don’t know – Maybe the bouquets that are so large that we can’t find the bride in there. What flavor of wedding cake makes you melt? Lemon - my grandmother always made Lemon cake me. What is your favorite moment on wedding day? Why? I really have two – The first is watching the grooms face as he see’s the bride walking down the aisle. I still get teary! The second is when the bride and groom walk into the reception and gasp at how beautiful everything is. I still get teary here too! If you could be hired for any famous person’s wedding (dead or alive), who would it be? Brad Pitt – I don’t care who he marries – I’d just like to pin on his boutonniere! What advice would you give to brides and grooms? Do your research. Word of mouth is great. Google is good too. Hire the pro’s you’ve chosen, and then trust your professionals to make it happen for you. We want your day to be as amazing as you do. Based on your experience, what advice would you give to wedding professionals? Just always do your very best and always go beyond what is expected of you. |
