Name: Federico & Haydee Alderete Business: Concepts Event Design Specialty: Making it happen Website: www.conceptseventdesign.com
How did you decide on your profession and join the wedding world? It was Federico’s passion for design and event production that got us started. He is a skilled craftsman along with having the desire to design and build new and exclusive furniture and décor elements. We started small; out of a used truck we bought years ago and have since grown exponentially to include our beautiful custom showroom. We still own that humble family operated business attitude, just now have the opportunity to create big dream experiences. What do you love most about your job? From the small ceremonies by the beach to the grand ballroom weddings, it is the connection we help create between the couples and their guests in celebration that we love the most. It is always an honor to have someone share that opportunity with us. What part of the wedding industry motivates you? We definitely enjoy the décor aspect of it. We admire couples that individualize their settings and consider the design aspect of their wedding day. Seeing the lights against the glimmer of crystal and florals is always amazing. Federico is always inspired by classic architecture and modern design, and seeing his vision sketched out, built, then implemented is wonderful. What is your favorite wedding venue in San Diego County? Why? We have been lucky to have produced weddings in some of the most romantic locations in San Diego. It is hard to say exactly which one I love the most because every couple is unique and their individual love stories bring distinct dynamics to each wedding. What is the wedding trend you’d like to see again and again? What is the wedding trend that should be buried and never return? We will always strive for innovation. We would like to see couples challenge their concepts and not be afraid to be too elegant, too modern, too shabby, or too fashion forward. Lets burry the bad bridesmaid dresses! What flavor of wedding cake makes you melt? I love the look and taste of a classic buttercream frosted marble wedding cake. There is something wonderfully nostalgic about enjoying a generously frosted moist marble cake, reminiscent of those happy times shared at family gathering or birthday parties. What is your favorite moment on wedding day? Why? After days of planning and hard work it is fulfilling for us to see the end result and the transformation of the setting. It is always nice to see the look of awe in the bride and grooms eyes when they walk in the space and see their vision materialized for their wedding. What advice would you give to brides and grooms? Hire a designer, coordinator, or other industry professional. New couples tend to underestimate the hours of work it takes to organize and manage such an event. Financially, everyone is on a budget, so plan on a smaller intimate wedding if you budget is also small and intimate J Based on your experience, what advice would you give to wedding professionals? We are lucky to say that we work with some of the top planners and designers in the city and aboard. We would advise any new professionals to focus on customer service, never leave any loose ends, and enjoy your work.
