How did you decide on your profession and join the wedding world?

I took a one year fascinating course through a spiritual church to be ordained as a minister in order to perform wedding ceremonies and memorial services for my friends and family in 1990. People attending those ceremonies began asking me if I could perform their ceremony and the word of mouth grew. I had not intended it to be my profession but through the years it evolved into a joyful and very rewarding one.

What do you love most about your job?
I feel most fulfilled when the couple and their friends and family are experiencing feelings of joy and laughter sprinkled with a few tears of loving emotion at the ceremony. It is so rare to have a gathering of all ones friends and families at one time that when they are all captivated by the beauty of the couple saying their love for each other and the ceremony that tells their journey of love, that is a moment that all of us cherish and it renews our spirit.

What part of the wedding industry motivates you?
The excitement surrounding the joyous occasion of a couple planning their wedding celebration motivates me. I also enjoy meeting and working with other wedding industry professionals and love referring them to my couples. All the professionals I know are dedicated to doing their very best, being creative and producing the bride and grooms dreams come true. I would day we are all in the dream making business and that is very motivating.

What is your favorite wedding venue in San Diego County?
That is a very hard question as San Diego has so many beautiful sites for weddings. I do not have any "one" favorite but have many just a few are The Grand Tradition in Fallbrook, The Prado, Balboa Park, The Westgate Hotel, La Jolla Cove Suites and Hotel Del Coronado but the list is endless.

What is the wedding trend you'd like to see again and again?
The children's ceremony is a wedding trend I especially enjoy. Many couples come into marriage with children from a previous relationship or they have their own child. The ceremony honors the child or children, sometimes they are given a gift as a memento. The couple says vows to the child and it can be filled with laughter and very touching.

What flavor of wedding cake makes you melt?
Red Velvet or Cheesecake, maybe someone can create a Red Velvet Cheesecake!!!

What is your favorite moment on wedding day? Why?
My favorite moment during the ceremony is the Blessing of the Rings. During this time, the guests are invited to give their blessings for the couple. I close my eyes and in the silence you can feel the love from everyone. Their hearts are open and I silently call forth a blessing for everyone so love, healing and joy can surround them. It is a beautiful moment where in the stillness that wonderful feeling of love brings us back to our essence.

If you could be hired for any famous person's wedding (dead or alive), who would it be?
Prince William and Kate Middleton

What advice would you give to brides and grooms?
I would tell brides and grooms to focus on your love and the true meaning of the day and not get so side-tracked with the preparations - hire a great wedding coordinator like Gina Hundley so that stress will be relieved. I would like to see couples complete their ceremony choices long before the ceremony perhaps 2 or 3 months before this way they will have time to focus on the most important thing in the wedding and the reason for the wedding - their ceremony which unites them in marriage.

Based on your experience, what advice would you give to wedding professionals?
Keep an attitude of loving the opportunity to be part of the bride and grooms treasured day, this way your approach to your expertise will be less stressful and you will have a clearer focus on the best to serve your clients.
